President Donald Trump’s former Republican primary rival Lindsey Graham has approached RINO status at some times with his opposition to Trump and his agenda.
However, the Senator from South Carolina clearly found a spine when it came to President Trump’s plan for Afghanistan and getting Republicans in the House and Senate to support it and not undermine it like some did with the Obamacare repeal attempt and other issues.
Said Sen. Graham in fiery comments on Fox News following Trump’s Afghanistan speech, “We’ve got to appropriate the money, I’m on the appropriations committee. I’m on the Armed Services Committee, I will fight Senator Paul tooth and nail to make sure we don’t lose in Afghanistan like we did in Iraq.”
He continued, “It’s just exactly what President Obama did in Iraq, was to leave against sound military advice. President Trump has the smarts and the moral courage to listen to his generals and take their advice rather than going the political way. And I’m so proud he did because unlike Obama, President Trump is listening to his generals.” He then warned, “And to my colleagues in Congress, you will own a ‘no’ vote.”
Stated Graham bluntly to fellow Republicans, “The next 9/11 will be your fault not President Trump’s fault if you shoot down this plan because this is a solid plan, this will turn things around in Afghanistan. It’s putting Pakistan on notice. I have a lot of confidence this will work, but it won’t be easy. They will try to break our will.” He then added, “And to President Trump, you’ve shown the will to stand up to radical Islam, but my friend, they’re gonna come after us, they’re gonna try to break your will, don’t let them, stick with it.”
